07.30 PM.
Tick tick!
I kept looking to the rotation of the needle on my wrist-watch, while the traffic jam had stuck for almost 40 minutes. Well, it was a mistake to make a reunion appointment on Saturday night, and when Jakarta celebrated its 485th anniversary. Millions of people was just on the road. Foke!
Trying to be calm, then sending an alert message to Rizky, that I would come late (I was late in fact!) and asked him to order an orange juice for me, so I could get a drink when I arrived at Plaza Semanggi. He replied, "we haven't got a seat!!!!". Oh, Jakarta!
But all those whines turned into smiles and laughs when finally I saw Andien and her husband, Sriel, Susi, Happy and his girlfriend, and also Rizky. Edo came eventually. The exes of economist reunite!
Sriel works for American Field Service aka Bina Antar Budaya, Susi teaches at SMK Itaco Bekasi, Happy works for Warta Ekonomi, Rizky has left his Multi-Level-Marketing career and now works as Marketing officer (ha ha ha), while Edo, the one of the only two smartest Economics student, works for Sampoerna Education as Financial Management lecturer and researcher. Andien and I work in Ministry of Finance, so we keep in touch a lot.
It always fun to meet again with old friends, and we could easily click in a second. Susi is always the funniest and innocent one. She shared her genuinely passion as a teacher recently. Not only teaching in SMK Itaco, she is also being a headmaster of Akadami Berbagi Bekasi. Andien shared her early pregnancy. Edo thought about his PhD plan. Old jokes. Future arrangements. So on. Conversations flowed up until 11.00 PM. Time to go home!
Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence.
